Frequently Asked Questions
1) Should I use graphite or steel shafts for my irons?
Graphite shafts obviously reduce the total weight of the club, and that is generally good for all players, but this is especially true for women and seniors. Graphite also absorbs the shock of impact, and this can benefit those who have joint problems, making for a more comfortable round of golf. That said, most golfers believe steel shafts for irons are better because of accuracy and or consistency. The major benefit of steel for the AVERAGE GOLFER is price, due to the fact that the least expensive shaft option for irons is fine for most players and happens to be steel. See more information under the link "Which Shaft Should I Choose?" regarding swing speed and shaft selection.
2) Should I use graphite or steel shafts for my woods?
The modern standard for almost all players is graphite shafts for woods. It is lighter, and allows for larger and more forgiving clubheads to be used for increased playability without requiring more strength to swing and control the club. It also can allow for longer shaft lengths with no increase in wieght, which for the same swing speed will increases clubhead speed resulting in more distance off the tee. Most Graphite drivers are 1/2" to 1" longer than their steel counterparts. So if getting the most out of your swing speed with the least effort sounds good to you, then choose one of our graphite shaft options.
3) Should I order a sand wedge?
You can play from the sand trap with a pitching wedge but for most golfers it won't work as well as a sand wedge. What makes a sand wedge different is the amount of "bounce" built into the sole of the club. Bounce is where the trailing edge of the clubhead is lower than the leading edge. In a sand trap this is what provides the lift or explosion to extract the ball. A sand wedge is also useful in heavy thick grass. A sand wedge is offered as an option on all of our iron sets, and while it's better in most cases to avoid the sand, you'll need to learn how to play out of it, so why not use the club designed for it?
4) Where can you ship to?
Shipping :
With only a few exceptions, we ship all over the world! All in-stock merchandise is shipped as soon as possible, in many instances the same day. Most orders are processed within 2 days, and no later than 7 working days from receipt of order. If you are in the United States, Priority Mail will reach you 2-3 days from the shipping date, although occasionally delays occur beyond our control due to heavy mail traffic. Other shipping methods besides the options in our shopping cart are available and will be quoted upon request.
International Shipping:
Less expensive shipping (than the amount our shopping cart calculates) to countries outside the United States may be possible, but due to the restrictions on the length of club boxes to some countries by shipping carriers, we have to handle these transactions by email or phone. We'll work with you and despite the higher cost of shipping to various spots on the globe rest assured that we are not inflating our shipping costs in these situations. Your packages are mailed from Girard, PA Postal Code 16417
5) Which putter will work for me?
We don't know. That's another reason why golf is such a great game, it's really at least two games in one. You can have the tee to green play mastered and still lose to a shorter hitter who knows how to chip the ball, read a green and putt. Putters are a completely personal item; if you haven't found yours yet give one of ours a try. We offer a balata faced and a more traditional CNC milled surface putter. The newest in our line are the 2 and 3 ball putters which are mallet styles with True Temper double bend steel shafts. They have alignment balls in back of the putter face to help set the line for you. All are fine choices, we recommend you go to a store with a putting green to see which style you prefer then save some money and buy from us.
6) Why do you charge so much for bending your irons?
Because we really bend them. It's a sad fact but either many shops are charging for bending and not doing it or the cost of bending is figured into the clubs whether you have it done or not. Then they charge nothing for bending when in reality everyone is paying for bending.
You are buying our time and expertise when you ask irons to be bent to a particular lie and we try hard to give you your moneys worth. If you think a set of irons can be bent in America for 10 or 15 bucks for 8 clubs or worse yet for "no charge" then I've got some swamp land in Florida you might be interested in.
7) I'm a beginner; shouldn't I buy the cheapest clubs I can while I'm learning?
It's true that some things about golf you can learn with discount store clubs, like the proper grip and stance. However, when you actually start to play the game of golf you should not put yourself at a disadvantage with inferior or less foregiving equipment. Let's face it, this game is plenty hard enough with good quality equipment. We also advise against putting too much pressure on yourself by spending many hundreds of dollars on clubs hoping to buy a swing. Quality clubs, such as those sold on this site, can help you learn the game and improve more quickly and at prices not much higher than the discount stores to boot.
8) What can you tell me about the overseas club components you use?
Made in China Quietly, club manufacturers reap the benefits of globalization

...at least 70 percent of all high-end clubheads sold in the United States are now made in China. Foundries located here are producing clubheads for virtually every major U.S. and Japanese clubmaker: Among them: TaylorMade (90 percent), Callaway, Cleveland (80 percent) , Cobra, Adams, TourEdge, Wilson, Maxfli, Never Compromise, Titleist, Mizuno, Daiwa, Maruman and Yonex. Also note that 30 percent of Aldila's top-quality shafts are made in Zhuhai, China.
Add Nike Golf to that list. Most of the companys inaugural clubs debuting at this weeks PGA Merchandise Show are forged products - still primarily the handiwork of the Japanese. But one of its new drivers is made in China, and when Nike rolls out greater volumes of cast irons later this year, expect them to be produced exclusively in China.
"We have the capability to source products from anywhere in the world, and as we looked into the club business, we started with a clean slate. All markets and all companies were open for consideration," says Mike Kelly, Nike Golf's director of golf club business. "But we're focusing on China because that's where the technology, the expertise and the capacity all are."
"We're in a global economy today. All kinds of industries, the computer industry, the semiconductor industry, you name it. They're already in China because they have to be. We're no different," says Barney Adams, whose company, Adams Golf, is supplied exclusively by Asian foundries. "Every day the golf industry gets more competitive, and it's incumbent upon manufacturers to find ways to stay alive."
So don't let anyone convince you that the quality isn't in the asian foundry components and the same goes for grips and shafts some of which we sell on this site, it's truly the only way to provide the best quality with the reasonable prices that let golf be a fun game for everyone, giving everyone an equal shot at great equipment. So the next time you see someone who obviously has the money to spend top dollar for their set of Proline clubs and chooses to do so, you can smile to yourself and know that your clubs are providing you with as much fun and many of the same qualities and features as their high priced cousins.
